How We Work With Veterans and Their Families At Bales Funeral Home, we believe that every veteran deserves to be honored with dignity, respect, and gratitude.

Serving those who have served our country is one of the most meaningful parts of our work, and we are committed to ensuring veterans and their families receive the benefits, honors, and personal care they have earned. Helping Families Understand Veterans’ Benefits

Many families are not fully aware of the funeral and burial benefits available to veterans. We guide families through every step, including:

● Eligibility verification for burial in a national or state veterans cemetery.

● Assistance with paperwork to secure military funeral honors.

● Coordinating with the Department of Veterans Affairs for headstones, markers, or medallions at no cost.

● Helping with reimbursement claims for certain funeral expenses. Coordinating Military Funeral Honors We work closely with local veterans’ organizations and military branches to ensure each veteran receives the honors they deserve, which may include:

● A flag presentation to the next of kin.

● The playing of Taps by a bugler or recording.

● An honor guard for the ceremonial folding of the flag. These traditions provide a moving and memorable tribute to a veteran’s service. Personalizing the Service Beyond the formal honors, we can help families weave a veteran’s military service into the entire funeral or memorial experience.

This can include:

● Displaying uniforms, medals, or photos. ● Incorporating patriotic music or readings.

● Choosing burial or memorial settings that reflect their service.

Serving All Branches, All Eras.

Whether your loved one served decades ago or recently returned from active duty, we are honored to help preserve their legacy. Every veteran’s service is important, and every family’s needs are unique. An obituary is a notice of passing that usually includes a brief biography of the person who has passed. Although there isn’t a right or wrong way to write an obituary for your loved one, it can be a difficult piece to compose alone. In this blog, I will provide an outline and give pointers to writing a meaningful and honorable obituary for yourself or a loved one.
