Obituary

Willie L. Young

84, of West Elkton, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 20, 2023.

He was born March 29, 1939, in Waynesburg, Kentucky to the late Willie M. and Irene (Parsons) Young.

In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Miller; step-son, Brett Osborn; and step-grandson, Jonathan Richards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Margaret Young; daughter, Tamara (Andy) Lucas; step-daughter, Leah (Danny) McIntosh; grandchildren, Erika and Steven; step-grandchildren, Zach, Andrew, Ryan, Shelby, Logan, and Christian; 9 great grandchildren; step-sister, Bea Wilburn; niece, Kathy Lippert; and a host of other family and friends.

For many years, Willie traversed countless miles as a dedicated truck driver, specializing in the transportation of cars and trucks destined for the East Coast for overseas shipment. With an unwavering commitment to his work, Willie's expertise and dependability earned him a reputation that was second to none. His exceptional skills behind the wheel and his meticulous attention to detail ensured that each shipment arrived safely at its destination.

Beyond his time on the open road, Willie possessed a genuine passion for tinkering with and repairing lawn mowers. He found comfort in the rhythmic hum of the engines and took great pride in maintaining his own yard to perfection. Every blade meticulously trimmed, reflecting his meticulous nature and the care he poured into everything he did.

When Willie wasn't on the road or in his workshop, he could often be found engaged in friendly card games with his loved ones. Rook was a particular favorite, and his competitive spirit combined with his friendly nature made him a joy to play with. He relished the camaraderie and laughter that filled those gatherings, creating cherished memories that will forever be treasured.

But perhaps Willie's most remarkable quality was his ability to befriend anyone he encountered. His warm smile and genuine interest in others' lives endeared him to all, leaving no room for enemies. Willie possessed a heart filled with kindness and compassion, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement. He touched countless lives through his simple yet profound acts of love and support.
