Mary A. Bales
76, of Middletown, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
She was born April 21, 1945 in Hamilton, to the late Harry Hollister and Betty Runnells.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Bob Runnells; and brother, Robert “Bob” Hollister.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Gary; sons and their wives, Derek and Eshelle, and their children, Tayler, Emma (Justis), Nathan, KeAnthony, KyTiana, Kemarion, and Abby; Todd and Stephanie, and their children, Todd and Taylor; and Tyler and Denise, and their children, Julia and Hailey; siblings, Bill (Marsha), Judy, and Jim (Barb); sister-in-law, Cathy; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary enjoyed going to see 50’s and 60’s Rock and Roll music entertainers and hanging-out with the other fans, many of whom became her good friends. She had been involved with the NCHA/FCRV camping organization, and crafting and ceramics clubs.
Beginning in 1979, she began volunteering at Jefferson Elementary School numerous hours to assist students, and be a part of many different programs such as the Santa Shop, organizing book fairs and book shops. She also helped with “jump-a-thons,” track meets, and as a driver for class trips. Mary was honored as the Middletown Teachers Association 1993 recipient of the Friends of Education Award.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 12 from 2-4PM at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd, Middletown, 45044. The funeral service will begin at 11AM on Monday, December 13 at Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum Chapel, 1401 S. Woodside Drive, Middletown 45044 with Dr. Dan Flory officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery. BALES FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
