Obituary

David A. Hockenberry

89 of West Chester, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

He was born February 13, 1933, in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Lewis A. and Nellie I. (Johnson) Hockenberry.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Greg Hockenberry; and brothers, Edwin and Richard Hockenberry.

He is survived by his wife, Elena Hockenberry; children, Cynde (Scott) Jackson, Lisa (Philip) DeSantis, and Matt (Cindy) Hockenberry; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many more family and friends.

David was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1953 to 1955.  He was called into ministry and was a devoted director and pastor at several churches in the Cincinnati area.  You could easily say David was an extremely social person, loved to exercise and be healthy by walking, who enjoyed music and singing.  Saying he was a huge fan of The Ohio State University, would be an understatement though.

There will be a graveside service with military honors on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 1PM at the Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W. Third St., Dayton 45428.
