Carolynn Sue Atwell Leeds
85 passed over peacefully on September 23, 2023 in Canton, Georgia.
Please join us in celebrating the life of our, larger-than-life, mother, grandmother and friend, Carolynn Atwell Leeds (Grammy and Momma). She will be greatly missed by many.
Carolynn was best known for her love of animals, was a fierce defender of her children, and had an unconditional love for all humans.
She had a memory like an elephant. She could always share tidbits that were long forgotten by many. That sense of humor and her contagious laugh while telling a story could bring tears to your eyes.
Carolynn held her faith in Christ close to her heart. She was an avid reader of the Bible and daily devotionals, perhaps with a few romance novels sprinkled in! She was rarely without an opinion, always shared with love, even if she disagreed. Her wish was for all of her children to remain close even through their human differences that could have separated them.
Another wonderful trait was Carolynn’s ability to fit into any age group. Whether they were toddlers, teens, or the elderly, that genuine love and interest was always present throughout her life.
Family and friends are so fortunate to have known her abundant love.
Carolynn’s final three years of life was spent in Canton, Georgia, where she lived with her daughter, Amber, and son-in-law, Mark. They sacrificed greatly to provide for Carolynn’s daily care. Our family is forever grateful she enjoyed a loving home during the last few years of her life.
Carolynn was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1938. She attended high school in Eaton, Ohio and later attended Miami Jacobs College. After college, she worked as an executive assistant at NCR for many years. Later in life, Carolynn worked at Dayton Mall for Estee ‘Lauder until she retired at age 71.
Carolynn is preceded in death by her father and mother, Donald and Ona Naomi (Brown) Jay; a brother, Edmond “Monte” Monroe Atwell; her daughter, Ona Lisa Kosco Leeds; sister-in-law, Carol Ann (Kosco) Starr; and grandson, Tanner Smith.
Carolynn is survived by her beloved sister Barbara Atwell Bowman; children, Aaron Leeds of Harrodsburg, KY, Amber (Mark) Peragallo of Canton, GA, Sarah (Ray) Valentin of West Alexandria, OH, Perry Leeds (Clay) of Yosemite, KY, Twylia (Neil) Van Uum of Cincinnati, OH, Adam (Sheila) Leeds of Harrodsburg, KY, Nathan (Karen) Leeds Monroe, NC, Scarlett (Chris) Smith of Camden, OH; nephews, Kelly Doran of Camden, OH, Tom (Marsha) Doran of Eaton, OH; nieces, Pam Vizer of North Royalton, OH, Bev Downs Sherman of Cincinnati, OH, and Joanne Taylor Wiseman of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Lysa, Luke (Paige), Mackie, Jiji, Sophia, Ezra, Seth, Shelby, Mason, Morgan, Adrianna, and Jena; great-grandchildren, Dean, Mica, Abigail, Gracie, June, and Future Baby Owens; grand nieces and nephews, Josh (Julie) Doran, Trish (Matt) Doran Reil, Chad Doran, and Brenna Doran.
