Obituary

Susan Jane Stapf

a cherished matriarch and beloved “mammy,” went on to be with her loved ones on May 18, 2026, in Camden, Ohio. Born on May 6, 1959, in Hamilton, Ohio, Susan's vibrant spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Susan's life was a beautiful tapestry woven from selflessness and warmth. She was outgoing and supportive, always a steadfast pillar for her family and friends. Known as a mother figure to many, Susan embodied kindness and care without reservation. Her laughter was infectious, a joyous sound that lingered in the hearts of those fortunate enough to hear it.

A lover of life’s finer pleasures, Susan’s passion for gourmet cooking was legendary. She delighted in preparing old-fashioned dishes made from the best ingredients, infusing each meal with love and tradition. Her green thumb was equally impressive; as one of the first graduates of Butler Tech in horticulture, she took pride in cultivating heirloom tomatoes and nurturing her garden with attentive care.

Susan’s interests extended beyond the kitchen and garden. A dedicated 4H advisor, she instilled a love for horses in many young souls and cherished trail riding across the states. On quieter days, she immersed herself in the thrilling pages of Stephen King novels, embracing the comfort of a good story.

She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 45 years, Tony Stapf; devoted daughters, Carolyn (Shane) Geise and Katie Hammann; treasured grandchildren, Aubry Peak, Cora Geise, and Lane Geise; and her great-granddaughter, Goldie Jane Michael. Susan’s sister, Judy Milillo, along with many more family members and friends, mourn her loss and celebrate the remarkable life she lived.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Roberta (Wilhelm) Brown, and her sister, Carol Jean Brown. Their memories live on through the enduring legacy Susan created.

A visitation to honor Susan’s life will be held on May 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at BALES FUNERAL HOME, Camden, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. , providing family and friends a time to gather, remember, and say goodbye to a truly remarkable woman.

Susan Jane Stapf’s generous soul, infectious laugh, and unwavering support touched many lives. As a matriarch, a mentor, and a shining light, she leaves behind a legacy rooted deeply in love, grace, and strength. Her spirit will forever ride alongside those she loved, like the horses she so dearly cherished.
