Ronald Lee Nohrer
79, of Camden, OH and formerly of Hamilton, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Friday night, February 20, 2026.
He was born January 15, 1947, in Hamilton to the late John A. and Henrietta A. (Putoff) Nohrer.
Ron is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Jamie Nohrer; grandchildren, Axel and Clessie Nohrer; sister, Donna May (Mike) Nohrer Puckett of Rockwall, TX; brother, Doug (Kristin) Nohrer; nieces, Rachel (Kevan) Culp and Cindy Lee Glover of TX; nephews, Gary Lee and John (Brandy) Lee of TX; and lifelong friend and comrade, Gary Kolbenstetter of VA and formerly of Hamilton, OH.
Born with a love for the outdoors and a strong sense of duty, Ron was a 1966 graduate of Fairfield High School, in Fairfield, OH. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Serving honorably overseas from 1966 to 1970, Ron distinguished himself as an excellent marksman and rose to the rank of sergeant, an achievement he carried with great dignity throughout his life.
Following his military service, Ron dedicated 30 years of hard work to AK Steel in Middletown, OH where he worked as a railroad heavy equipment operator. He was known as a dependable skilled worker, who took pride in a job well done.
Throughout his life, Ron enjoyed being outdoors where he showed particular interest in activities such as hunting, fishing, practicing archery, or simply sitting to absorb the sights and sounds of nature. That same sense of happiness carried over into his love of motorcycles. As a long standing enthusiast, Ron could often be found riding his Harley-Davidson (sometimes even with his K9 companion, Sid) and developed a true sense of freedom being on an open road with the feeling of wind at his back.
Ron was also a man of routine. During his later years, mornings were rarely spent alone, as he made it a point to meet up with his buddies for breakfast at spots stretching from College Corner to Eaton. These gatherings were more than just meals; they represented a fellowship that was deeply cherished.
To many, Ron will always be remembered for the simple but meaningful gesture of sitting on his front porch swing in Camden waving to every passing car. Sharing his kind smile with those who drove by was his way of staying connected and leaving his mark in a community that adored him.
During the last few years of life, Ron found his greatest joy in time spent with his family. At his son’s home, he spent lots of time playing checkers with Axel, sharing both competition and laughter, or offering creative ideas to Clessie, inspiring her artwork with his continuous presence and encouragement.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25 from 5-7PM at BALES FUNERAL HOME, Camden.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Ron’s memory may be made to the Preble County 4H Committee, 450 Washington Jackson Rd Eaton, Ohio 45320, with Shooting Sports/Ronald Nohrer in the memo, or to the Preble County Honor Guard, PO Box 635, Eaton, Ohio 45320.
