Norma Jean "Jeannie" Swartz
87, of West Elkton, went to be with the Lord, Friday, October 25, 2024.
She was born February 12, 1937, in Eagle, West Virginia, to the late William L. and Louetta (Toler) Thomas.
In addition to her parents, Jeannie was preceded in death by six siblings.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Nolan Swartz; children, Mirinda (Rob) Huntsberger, Sharon (Jerry) Merriman, Timothy W. Swartz, Toni Johnson, and Sheila (Scott) Bratcher; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Lowell and David Thomas; and many more family and friends.
If there were to be a title bestowed on her, it would undoubtedly be "Domestic Goddess." Jeannie's innate ability to transform her home into a sanctuary of hospitality was unparalleled. She was a maestro of gatherings, orchestrating dinner parties that became cherished moments in the lives of her family and friends. With every meticulously set table and each delicious recipe, she created an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie, one that invited laughter and conversation. Her home was a haven, a place where stories were shared, love was abundant, and bonds were deepened.
Deeply committed to her faith, Jeannie was actively involved in the various churches she attended throughout her life. Her dedication was unwavering, serving on the Women's Auxiliary and imparting her knowledge and love of the scriptures by teaching Sunday School. She had a unique gift of making faith accessible and meaningful to all, nurturing a sense of community and support that will be fondly remembered.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 30 from 11:30AM to 1:30PM at BALES FUNERAL HOME, 249 N. Main Street, Camden. The funeral service will begin at 1:30PM with interment at Fairmound Cemetery in West Elkton. After the cemetery, there will be refreshments for friends and family at West Elkton United Methodist Church to celebrate a life well lived and loved for Jeannie.
