Lyda Pal Peak

85, of Camden, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

He was born on “the first month, the third day, of ‘38” in Scott County, Virginia, to the late Emett and Lillie (Begley) Peak.

In addition to his parents, Pal was preceded in death by his siblings, Garnie, Walter, Norman “Bug,” Gene, and Marie Hall-Lane; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and other friends and family members.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruby (Saylor) Peak; son, Wendell (Kandi) Peak; daughter, Debbie (Glen) Mason; grandchildren, Alex, Aaron (Karen), Andrew (Gina), Jeremy (Leigh Anne), Ryan (Sara), Justin (Mandy), Cassie (Ryan), and Marli (Jimmy); 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Dorothy Cottingim; and many more family and friends.

Pal was a devoted Christian and family man.  He was a member of the Northside Chapel First Church of God in Camden where he was the door greeter, song leader, and board member.  He will fondly be remembered for the enthusiastic way he sang the songs “He Lives,” “Prodigal Son,” and “Working On A Building.”  Pal enjoyed building things that he could use around the house and traveling to his cabin on the High Knob Mountain in Virginia.  On any given day, he could be found riding his four-wheeler or sitting on the front porch waving to those who drove by and watching the birds and deer. Pal was drum operator and retired from Champion International in 1996.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 4 from 11AM to 1PM at Northside Chapel First Church of God, 6820 N. Main St, Camden, 45311.  The funeral service will begin at 1PM with Pastor David Oakley officiating.  Pal will be laid to rest at Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
