Lawrence Brewer

Age 89, of Camden, went Home to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 12, 2026.

He was born October 15, 1936, in Hiner, Kentucky, to the late Willie and Nora (Hensley) Brewer.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Janet Brewer, and siblings, Myrtle Jones, Cecil Brewer, J.W. Brewer, Arnold Brewer, Jerry Brewer, and Lloyd Brewer.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Mark and Kim Brewer, Nora and Jim Braden-Nafe, and Eric and Mindy Brewer; grandchildren, Dustin Brewer, Kyle Brewer, Joshua Brewer, Justis Brewer, Jordan Brewer, Isaac Brewer, Aaron Coffey, Brittany Howard, Christopher Braden, Michael Braden, Ryan Braden, Brent Carmin and Trevor Carmin; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Hager Brewer, George Brewer, Sandra Brewer, Carolyn Sue Goins, Willie Brewer, Jr., Peggy Drennan, Vera Green, Mary Mullins, and James Brewer; and his best friend and honorary son, Tommy Saylor.

Lawrence was the kind of man who enjoyed working, lending a helping hand to anyone, and somehow make you feel like you had known him forever. He spent many years working as a heavy equipment operator and welder, taking pride in knowing how to work with his hands and get the job done.

But Lawrence’s greatest work was found in the way he cared for people. If someone needed groceries, Lawrence was happy to make a trip to the store for them. If they needed a ride to an appointment, he would take them. He never needed much of a reason to help someone in need. For Lawrence, helping others was simply something you did.

Lawrence could make one of the best pots of chili around, and sharing a meal with others was always better. He loved having children around him, and it never mattered whether they were family by blood. If a child was around, Lawrence was happy. He had a natural way of making kids feel welcome and enjoyed the energy and joy they brought into his life.

Faith and music were also important parts of his life. He was a member of the Church of God In Jesus, where he once played the guitar. Through his faith and his music, he found another way to connect with others and share a part of himself.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 15 at Church of God In Jesus, 5604 W. Alexandria Rd, Middletown, OH 45042 from 11AM to 1PM. The funeral service will begin at 1PM with Pastor Rodney Griffin officiating. Lawrence will be laid to rest at Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, beside his beloved wife, Janet.
