Larry Wayne Isaacs
72, of N. Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Camden, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
He was born May 3, 1950, in Hamilton, to the late Harvey L. and Wilma J. (Sweeten) Isaacs.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sisters, Barb (John) McGuire and Brenda Knauer; and brother, Steve Isaacs.
He is survived by his sons, Justin (Vanessa) Isaacs and Jared Isaacs; grandson, Henry Isaacs; siblings, Dianne (Adam) Tinch, Martha (Jim) Henson, Sheila Crider, and Aaron (Lisa) Isaacs; former wife and mother to his sons, Laura Isaacs; numerous nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends.
Larry was graduate of Preble Shawnee High School, Class of 1969. He was then drafted and proudly served in the U.S. Army from February 10, 1970 to May 30, 1972 in the 54th Infantry in the Vietnam War. It was during a mission when Larry was wounded, which cut short his time in the war. He was awarded a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device (first Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Unit Emblem, and a Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation among others. As an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Larry rooted for the home team no matter what. He was a jokester who loved his family and would help anyone in need.
Larry’s family would like to thank Laura for her love and loyalty she had for him through the years and to the caretakers and staff at the Capt. James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 22 from 11AM to 12PM at BALES FUNERAL HOME, Camden. The memorial service will begin at 12PM with Dr. Dan Flory officiating. Larry’s remains will be laid to rest with military honors at Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton.
