Jimmy Rainwater

63, of Camden, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026.

He was born May 4, 1963, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Jack Rainwater and Bessie Spicer.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Schenck.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Rainwater; children, Robert Lee (Melissa) Gabbard, Danielle (Todd) Wright, and Jesse Gabbard; grandson, Tyler Gabbard; brother, Tim Rainwater; and many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was the kind of man who knew how to enjoy life. Give him a fishing pole, a Harley, or a project to piddle around with at home, and he was happy. He never seemed to run out of something to do, or something to tinker with. There was always a little project, something to fix, something to work on, or just “this or that” that needed his attention.

Some of Jimmy’s happiest times were spent fishing in Kentucky. He enjoyed the peace of being outdoors, the anticipation of that next bite, and the memories made along the way. And when he wasn’t fishing, there was a good chance he was out riding his Harley, enjoying the open road and the freedom that came with it.

But perhaps one of Jimmy’s greatest gifts was his ability to tell a story. He was an amazing storyteller who could captivate anyone willing to listen. Whether the story was funny, familiar, or one he had told a time or two before, Jimmy had a way of drawing people in and making them feel like they were right there with him. His stories, his humor, and his way of carrying on a conversation are the kinds of memories that will stay with those who knew him.
