Jeffrey D. Lay
53, of Camden, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022.
He was born August 20, 1968, in Hamilton to the late Paul and Joyce (Bown) Lay.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn Ruth Ellen Lay; maternal grandparents, John and Clara Bown; paternal grandparents, Roscoe and Goldie Lay; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Bonnie Morgerson; and brother-in-law, Monte Hale.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Debbie Morgerson Lay; sons, Jeffrey Tyler Lay and Kyle Mason (Mackenzie) Lay; siblings, John Lay, Greg (Robyn) Lay, and Brenda Hale; brother and sister-in-law, BJ and Debbie Morgerson; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jeff was a school bus mechanic by trade, but better known throughout Preble County by playing bass for over 30 years in different bands. Misty River Band, Round-Up, and The Tune Travelers just to name a few. He was a member of Camden Masonic Lodge #159, American Legion Post 377, VFW Post 1577, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Gratis.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 26 from 5-7PM at Christ Commission Temple, 155 N. Main Street, Camden with a Masonic Service to begin at 7PM. The funeral service will start at 11AM on Friday, May 27 at the church with Pastor Larry Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
