James H. Robertson, Jr.
72, of Camden, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 13, 2026.
He was born September 6, 1953 in Manchester, Kentucky, to his parents James, Sr. and Sally (Arnett) Robertson.
James was preceded in death by his dad and brother, John Robertson.
He is survived by his mom; loving wife of 47 years, Beverly (Harris) Robertson; son, James Robertson III and his wife, Kira; daughters, Jodi Newton, and Julie Doran, and her husband, Joshua; grandchildren, Kaydee Newton, Caden Robertson, Brayden Doran, Conner Robertson, Bryson Doran, Gunner Newton, Emma Doran, Macy Robertson, Madyx Doran, and Ansley Newton; great grandson, Levi Robertson; sisters, Glenna Smith and Hazel Rieger and her husband, Marvin; and many nieces and nephews.
For over four decades, Jim shared his expertise and enthusiasm for woodworking with countless students. He began his teaching career at Twin Valley South, where he inspired young minds for 31 years before continuing his journey at Preble Shawnee for 10 years. His woodshop classroom was not just a place to learn a skill; it was a space where creativity, patience, and hard work were nurtured, leaving an engrained mark on all who had the privilege to learn from him.
Beyond the classroom, Jim’s heart was anchored by his family. A proud family-man, he cherished every moment spent with his grandbabies, whose laughter and joy brought endless warmth to his life. His commitment to faith was unwavering, demonstrated by his 27 years as an active member of Poasttown First Church of God, where he found community and purpose.
Jim's love for the outdoors was well known among those who knew him. He found excitement in fishing for walleye on the waters of Lake Erie, a pastime that allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy peaceful reflection. Summers off from school saw him channeling his remarkable carpentry skills into building houses, a demonstration to both his craftsmanship and his generous spirit.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 18 from 5-7PM at BALES FUNERAL HOME, Camden. The funeral service will begin at 11AM on Friday, June 19, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Greg McIntosh officiating. James will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis.
