Glen Robert Henning

Age 84, of Camden, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

He was born December 6, 1941, on the family farm, to the late Stanley Royal and Esther Elizabeth (Eckhardt) Henning.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Eugene and Gerald Lee Henning.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce (Avery) Henning; daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Don Jamison; grandson, Blake Robert Jamison; brother, Roger (Michele) Henning; sisters-in-law, Nora Henning and Jacki (Avery) Humphrey; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Glen grew up on his family's farm in Dixon Township, where the rhythms of planting and harvest, and the hum of tractors, shaped the man he would become. In 1960, Glen answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served with honor until his discharge in 1964, carrying the discipline and pride of that service with him for the rest of his days. He went on to build a long and steady career at Moraine Materials in Middletown, Ohio where he worked for 40 years before retiring.

But it was in his hobbies that Glen's personality truly shone. What began as a simple train collection sparked his interest into die cast toys. He and his wife, Joyce, traveled to toy shows across many states, hunting for new pieces and swapping stories with fellow collectors. True to his mechanically gifted nature, Glen began customizing farm toys turning his home into a workshop where imagination and craftsmanship met. Their travels included the annual trip to the National Farm Toy Show in Dyersville, Iowa to sell their custom made display cases. He and Joyce also spent many happy miles on the road together attending antique tractor shows sharing a passion that brought them closer with every trip.

Glen's faith was a steady anchor throughout his life. He was a devoted member of Fairhaven Community Church, finding community and purpose within its congregation. When he wasn't tinkering in his workshop or on the road with Joyce, Glen could usually be found with a Louis L'Amour western novel in hand, losing himself in tales of the frontier. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and cheered on the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He never missed a chance to settle in and watch RFD- TV, staying connected to the rural life and agricultural world he loved so much.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 29th from 5PM to 7PM at BALES FUNERAL HOME, Camden, Ohio. On Wednesday, September 30th, a visitation will begin at 10AM at the funeral home with the funeral service beginning at 11AM. Glen will be laid to rest at Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.
