Gary L. Settles

Age 68, of Somerville, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019.

He was born August 18, 1950 in Hamilton to the late William A. and Retha (Rose) Settles.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Rutherford Lakes; mother-in-law, Opal Lakes; and brothers-in-law, Joe Lakes and LeRoy Davis.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janelle; daughter, Natalie; sister, Faye (John) Winkler; sister-in-law, Theresa Davis; brothers-in-law, Jerry Lakes and Joshua Spivey; his much-loved canine companion, Kissie; and many more family and friends.

He enjoyed to rodeo when he was younger, was a 4H advisor for Butler and Preble Counties, and was a barber for 48 years.  Gary loved to raise and train both champion Quarter and Paint horses and many different breeds of dogs.  He was the life of the party who was always smiling and never met a stranger.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. James Thomson and staff, the McCullough-Hyde Tri-Health ICU staff, the Knolls of Oxford rehab unit staff, and Gary’s family and friends for all the love and support.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 21 from 6-8PM at Higher Heights Church of God, 8111 US 127, Camden, OH 45311.
