Eva Laura Lovely
passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5th, 2025 at the age of 86.
Eva was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on February 28th, 1939 to the late Monroe and Bertha (Sizemore) Ousley before they moved to Ohio.
Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Lovely, her parents, Monroe and Bertha, and her brothers and sister in-laws, Rufus J. Ousley (Carol), and Thomas Ousley (Mary Lou).
She is survived by her son, Michael Lovely (Andrea), her grandson, Lawton Lovely (Amber), her great grandson, Judah Lovely, her brother, James D. Ousley (Donna), and her sister, Sarah Hale (Charles).
Eva met Dudley when he offered to help change her tire and then asked for a date in exchange for his kindness. She then married Dudley on April 28th, 1960, three years after she graduated high school in Franklin, Ohio. She worked at Interstate Folding Box before she and Dudley started a furniture store in Camden in 1974, later relocating to Middletown in 1977.
When she wasn’t at the store, Eva could be found at church every Wednesday evening and Sunday morning. Eva was a faithful member of Beechwood Church of God - a community that she held very close to her heart. She spent her mornings and evenings rereading the Bible, highlighting and underlining passages. Her devoutness to the Lord was ever present and something to be admired, up until her very last day.
Eva loved collecting antiques. A frequenter of garage sales, she would browse endlessly through papers looking for her next adventure. She enjoyed gardening, and anyone who went by the house had a good chance of catching a glimpse of her among the roses, hostas, and lavender.
Eva’s green thumb continued throughout the year when she and Dudley would spend winters in Okeechobee, Florida where they would fish and she would catch up with friends and her sister, Sarah. Eva retired from winters in Florida after the birth of her great grandson, telling Dudley she would not spend anymore time away from the baby than she already had - a true testament to who she was - a woman of faith and family.
Those who were lucky enough to know Eva will always remember her quick wit and her love for the Lord.
Her family will forever be indebted to the team at Woodland Country Manor, and Doctor Thomson and his staff for their care and guidance during this time.
In lieu of flowers, you can donate to AFA - Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
“Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord, by and by
There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky.”
