TIPTON, David Daniel “Dan”
Age 73, of Somerville, passed away at home surrounded by family on March 13, 2017.
He was born October 12, 1943 in Middletown.
Dan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Eva Grimes; mother and step-father, Allene and Calvin Ling; and uncles, Glen, Ed, and Jim Grimes.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Opal Jean Tipton; children, Candus David (Lynda) Tipton, Daniel Todd (Rhonda) Tipton, Jennifer Danielle Pence, and Sarah Elizabeth Tipton; grandchildren, Danielle, David, Sam, and Dani Tipton and Addison and Carson Pence; great grandson; Noah Tipton; sister-in-law, Brenda Graves; nephews, Gavin Graves and Kenny Croucher; and many more family and friends.
Being an avid fisherman, Dan enjoyed many family trips to Spooner, Wisconsin fishing for bass, pike, and the elusive big muskie. He put much pride in his work as a carpenter and even built his dream home with Opal on the 40 acres he referred to as the “North 40.” Dan loved mushroom hunting in the spring and deer hunting in the winter. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and was quick to point out all of their accomplishments. His favorite pastime was spending Saturday’s gun trading and loved getting his hands on a good ol’ Winchester. He will be missed tremendously by everyone who loved him.
The family will receive friends Thursday March 16 from 6PM to 8PM at BALES’ FUNERAL HOME, (Formerly the Nein Funeral Home) Camden. The funeral service and burial at Somerville Cemetery will take place at the family’s convenience.
If desired, contributions in Dan’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Miami Valley Chapter, 31 W Whipp Rd, Dayton, 45459.
