Ackman, Celeste (Ehrhardt), 80, died on October 6, 2026, at Kettering Health in Eaton, Ohio.

Daughter of Russell Ehrhardt and Mamie Melton, she was born in September 1946 and was the youngest daughter of their seven children. She was a lifelong resident of Camden, Ohio.

Mrs. Ackman graduated from Shawnee High School in 1964, then attended medical laboratory technician school in South Bend, Indiana, working in the field until her marriage in November 1966. After having children, she returned to school to pursue various careers, including real estate, before ultimately settling on mechanical engineering through Miami University. In 1980, Mrs. Ackman was employed by Square D (now Schneider Electric) of Oxford, Ohio, where she worked until her retirement in 2008.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Ackman was involved in various professional and civic organizations, including the American Business Women’s Association and the Preble County Democratic Party, where she was an active member of the central committee until her death. She also served as the presiding judge of the Somers Township voting precinct for many years.

Beyond her community involvement, she was an avid seamstress and quilter, creating dozens of quilts that grace the homes of many family members and friends. She spent countless hours creating quilt tops that, once finished, were donated to those in need through local churches and charitable groups. For many years, she was also involved in 4-H, sharing her love of sewing by teaching children the craft. Throughout her adult life, she was equally passionate about adopting and caring for abandoned pets.

Mrs. Ackman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Charles Ackman; her sisters, Caroline Brinkerhoff and Melinda Lee; and her brother, Burdette Ehrhardt.

She is survived by her children: Olen Ackman (Jennifer Young) of New Albany, Ohio and their children; and Sonya Ackman (Jonathan Schwartz) of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sydney Schwartz and Sigrid Schwartz of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, as well as several much-loved and cherished nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Fairmount Cemetery, 7371 Camden Rd., Camden, OH 45311.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Preble County, 951 S. Barron St., Eaton, OH 45320 (humanesocietypc.com), an organization to which Mrs. Ackman was strongly devoted.
